Love in the Bible is defined as caring in action; a deep enduring concern for another’s welfare, affection, and friendship
Four Types Of Love: • Philia – brotherly love • Eros – sexual love • Storge – familial love • Agape – unconditional love; Godly love; God’s love for his people
KEY POINTS:
- People get confused between love and infatuation
- Unless infatuation is replaced with true love it will result in a broken relationship
- God’s love is unconditional; it never changes
- God is love
- God loved us from the beginning
- God’s love is eternal; everlasting
- God created the world and people to express his love for us
- God made us in his image
- We all possess the wonderful characteristics of God
- We all matter to God; we are all special in the eyes of God
- God is about relationships (relationships based on love)
- God wants us to have a relationship with him
- Love will cause you to give of yourself freely
- Love is not selfish; it is not self centered
- You have to exercise love in order for it to continue to build
- When you love someone dearly you give of yourself freely to the point of self sacrifice
- God deserves all the glory, honor, and praise
- When you love you are willing to give up your own comfort and security
- God’s love is not dependent on what we have or do; or our social status
- God breathed the breath of life into us
- God’s love can cast out all fear
- God has given us each other to love
- If God sees that you are ready to love someone, he will bring them in
- God’s love is personal
- God will never leave you nor forsake you, because he loves you
- God wants us to be obedient and about his service
- God’s love and desire is so great, he longs for our relationship with him
- Meditate on the goodness, grace, and mercy of the Lord
- God wants us to see his guidance in all aspects of our lives
- Trust in the Lord for all things
